Indicator for Internationalization
 
     
 
1. Sister schools:
  Kainan University promotes international academic exchange and strengthens its relationships with universities abroad. As of the present, it has established cooperative agreements with over 47 universities from 15 countries. These include the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in the United Kingdom, Waseda University in Japan, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and the University of British Columbia in Canada amongst many others.
   
2. Exchange Students Program:
  Kainan University has established exchange student agreements with various educational institutions of its standard all over the world. This program has given an opportunity for Kainan’s top students to study abroad at its sister schools in order to undergo the many multicultural experiences available.
   
3. International Honors Program:
  Kainan University established its International Honors Program in 2005. This program accepts exceptional international students and is taught completely in English. Through this program, students are provided with an exceptionally gifted faculty from which international students can learn Mandarin and specialized courses. The program also promotes interaction between international and local students and raises awareness and international perspectives of the local students. By the end of December 2008, Kainan University had 112 international students from 12 different countries studying in its four-year undergraduate program.
   
4. Classes taught in English
  Since 2003, Kainan University has offered classes taught in English in order to promote the internationalization of the university, provide its students with an English environment and strengthen their English. Through the growth in the number of international and exchange students every year, the ratio of the corresponding classes taught in English has also been rapidly increasing, leading to more specialized courses for international students to choose from.
   
5. International Exchange Program and Chinese Learning Center
  In addition to sending its outstanding students abroad, Kainan University also accepts students from its sister schools to take specialized courses offered by the university. Aside from these courses, exchange students can take Mandarin courses in order to improve their language ability. The university also encourages interaction between the exchange and international students and the local students to give them a fulfilling time studying abroad.
   
6. Foreign faculty
  Kainan University attracts and retains exceptional foreign professors to enrich its English courses and for students to practice their speaking abilities and improve their English. Foreign professors in turn can utilize the resources of the university to pursue their academic research and raise its international academic standing.
